Hot Topics

Sunday, July 14 - Part 1 - “WHY DEAL WITH HOT TOPICS IN OUR CULTURE?”

This first message will primarily be to help us see why we should deal with cultural issues or “hot topics.”  We are told not to conform but be transformed.

Sunday, July 21 - Part 2 - “WHY IS CULTURE SO MESSED UP AND HOW SHOULD WE SEEK TO CHALLENGE AND CHANGE CULTURE?”

This second message is an extension of the first.  We need to better understand why our worldly culture is so messed up…and how to go about challenging and changing worldly culture. Both week 1 & 2 are to give us a better context before we deal with modern day cultural “hot topics.”

Sunday, July 28 - Part 3 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF RACISM

Since the “race card” is being played so much in our American culture…especially in the political arena, we as Christians need to understand the Biblical stance when it comes to racism. (Message will deal both with human beginnings and with how the Gospel of Christ erases racial barriers.)

Sunday, August 4 - GUATEMALA MISSION REPORT SUNDAY

This year’s mission team, through UTH Ministries, will share about the mission trip.

Sunday, July 11 - Part 4 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF ABORTION

With so much cultural misinformation and the topic of pro-life/pro-choice being tossed around like a political football, we need to be sure Christians have a Biblical understanding of life and why abortion is wrong.

Sunday, August 18 - Part 5 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF SEXUALITY

This message will deal with sexuality from an overview approach; dealing with sexual practices being for a man and woman in marriage to each other; the need to flee sexual immorality; the tragic general acceptance of sexual sin being no one’s business other than the people engaged in the sexual act;  the shifting definition of sex in our culture; and the wrongful attempts to promote a gender neutral society.

Sunday, August 25 - YOUTH MINISTRY SUNDAY

Sunday, September 1 - Part 6 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF HOMOSEXUALITY

While in the previous Sunday, we dealt with sexuality in more general terms, due to the fast acceptance of homosexuality; same sex marriages in our culture as being a “new normal,” we must deal with what the Bible says and thus God’s opinion of homosexuality.

Sunday, September 8 - Part 7 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF RELIGION AND POLITICS

Yes…the two topics “nobody talks about.”  Religion and Politics.  But the purpose of this message will deal with the dangerous practice of linking Christianity to any political party or movement.  While some political parties may seem to have more “Christian stances” we must never wholeheartedly embrace a political party as if they are “God”s political party.  We must stand upon Christian principles/Biblical Truth…and apply that truth to whatever political party or politician.  WE ARE CHRIST-FOLLOWERS FIRST!

Sunday, September 15 - Part 8 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF GLOBALISM

There is a great movement to blur the lines of nationality and embrace globalism.  This can be an easy pit to fall into, even for Christians, as we are to practice the love of Christ toward others…but we must be careful to the degree we adopt globalism, as it is a definite current/future tool of the anti-Christ.

Sunday, September 22 - Don Sunshine, with Don Sunshine Ministries.

Sunday, September 29 - Part 9 - “THE HOT TOPIC OF FAITH

This final message will focus upon the importance of our faith; sharing our faith; but also warn us of having wrong attitudes toward others who may reject our faith/what we believe.

Family Sunday

The last Sunday of each month thereafter, Day3 will have "Family Sunday".  Family Sunday, again the last Sunday of the month, will be the Sunday that all children(except the Nursery) will join the adults and youth in Day3's morning worship services and sit with their parents. During that service, there will be a "kid's sermon" shared with the children. Worshiping as a family with mom and dad modeling worship is so important and is something Day3 wants to enable.
